Ryan Jay from Metro Detroit, MI., grew up listening to influential country artists such as George Strait, Brooks and Dunn and Keith Whitley. He started his musical journey back in 2012. Since then, Ryan has played and toured all across the United States. From being a featured act at huge festivals, to opening up for National Acts such as Randy Houser, Bryan Martin, Chase Matthew, Lindsay Ell and more, the country music scene is paying attention.
Ryan released his debut EP, “Plymouth Rock Sessions: Unplugged”, back in 2021, and has also released multiple singles including, “I Know”, which has been played on FM stations across the country.
Heartfelt, sincere, honest and bold is the best way to describe Ryan’s songs. “A lot of my songs are about my life, and as I get older, I don’t hold back what I’m feeling and what I feel is what I write.”
Some of his biggest influences in music are Jamey Johnson, Cody Jinks, Eric Church and Metallica. Ryan likes to describe his music as, “country with a hard edge”.
Writing songs for him is a type of, “therapy” so to speak. He writes to cope with situations in his life, but also writes songs to help other people that struggle in similar problem areas that he has been through.
Currently, Ryan is finishing up his debut, self-titled full-length record, and he can’t wait to share it with the world. Ryan is also up for 5 nominations at the Josie Music Awards taking place in Nashville, TN., at the Grand Ole Opry on October 27, 2024.
